Mind Body Sole Reflexology

About Us

The treatment is recommended to help alleviate symptoms related to stress and tension encouraging relaxation and promoting balance.

Bring your body back into a state of homeostasis

The Advantage reflexology has on the body is that it can pick up any imbalances, more specifically in the feet and the reason it can do this is because the nerves that pass through the whole system, through specific organs in certain parts, all end in the feet.

Reflexology aims to bring the body back into a state of homeostasis, helping the body’s systems work more efficiently. Although reflexology does not replace conventional medical treatment, many people use reflexology as a complementary approach to enhance their well-being, relieve tension, improve circulation, and support overall health because the body has a unique ability to heal and seek balance.

Reflexology Practitioners do not possess the medical training to identify, diagnose, or treat
medical conditions. Any health concerns or symptoms should be discussed with a qualified medical professional, who can provide a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

What Is Reflexology

Reflexology brings balance and alignment to the body. It’s a scientific application of pressure and stimulation on specific parts of the feet that brings about a result and response in specific areas and systems of the body.

Homeostasis is the body’s ability to maintain internal balance and stability despite external changes. The concept can also apply to mental and emotional balance, since our psychological well-being is closely linked to our physical health.

The connection between the body and mind is key to the holistic approach like reflexology, where rebalancing physical tensions is thought to impact mental and emotional health as well. The idea is that when one part of the system is under strain, it can disrupt the whole, but by restoring balance in one area, overall well-being can be improved.

Reflex is a complementary therapy that focuses on specific points on the feet that are connected to various organs and systems throughout the body. Another meaning for “reflex” means the reflection of the anatomy and physiology of the feet and “ology” meaning the study and practice of.

By applying pressure to these reflex areas, it is believed to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and improve its functioning.

Treatment Experience

A client consultation form is completed and signed by both the client and practitioner after completing a basic medical history and lifestyle consultation before the treatment begins. All information will be kept confidentially.

The practitioner will explain how reflexology works and what to expect in the session.During each treatment, once you’ve removed your shoes and socks you will make yourself comfortable on the massage bed so that you can completely relax.
It’s important to wear comfortable and loose clothing so that the lower legs and ankles can be massagedAfter refreshing your feet with hot cotton cloths, I apply a gentle warm up to your feet and ankles. The Practitioner focuses on an entire pattern of reflexology treatment, starting at the toes and working down the foot. A complete reflexology treatment uses many different techniques and includes all the points on both feetOnce your reflexology session has finished you can relax a little, while I answer any questions you may have. It’s important to drink water after your treatment to release any toxins from the body.
As holistic practitioners, reflexologists are there to support you as a whole person and promote your wellbeing. We are all unique and so it is not possible to know in advance how you will react to treatment. However, people often do feel very relaxed, may sleep better and notice a feeling of improved mood and general well-being. You may find that other things improve too.

If you have any concerns about your health, please contact your GP before booking any treatment.

Do I have to wash my feet before coming?

No not at all - I refresh your feet prior to working on them.

The most common thing people say at the start of their treatment is 'I'm sorry' and then proceed to tell me about their 'ugly' feet. Please don't feel embarrassed by your feet. Your feet need some time and TLC for all the hard work they do.

No, however you may feel that reflexology helps support you with a particular health condition, the saying 'prevention is better than cure' applies perfectly to the benefits of reflexology.

Reflexology in pregnancy is generally safe but if your pregnancy is classed as high risk or you have e.g. high blood pressure, a low-lying placenta, or other issues I may not be able to treat unless I receive consent from your Doctor.

This depends on your objective for having reflexology and depends on everyone differently. If you're having treatments to promote rest and relaxation, or to maintain your well-being, I would suggest 3 treatments per week for 2 weeks, 2 treatments per week for 2 weeks, 1 treatment per week for 2 weeks, then once a month for maintenance. Ultimately, it's up to every individual. Some clients come weekly, some fortnightly and some monthly whilst others have treatments a couple of times a year.

Drinking plenty of water will help to flush out any toxins and it's also advisable to avoid caffeine, cigarettes and alcohol for the rest of the day.

After having one or two treatments, most people feel an improved sense of well-being and experience a feeling of deep relaxation. Some people feel emotional or tired, but these are normal reactions as this is part of the healing process. This should pass within 24 hours.

  • If you have a foot injury, stitches, severe bruising, or multiple growths (one or two are OK; please cover with a plaster before your treatment).
  • A contagious illness or flu.
  • A DVT (deep vein thrombosis).
  • You are classed as having a high-risk pregnancy.
  • An illness which isn't stabilized with medication.
  • A serious illness or a recent operation for which you are still under the care of a consultant/surgeon.

I use lovely natural body butter/oils amplifying relaxation.
